CCTV Installation Across Sydney
Properly positioned cameras, reliable recording and footage you can actually use.
A camera system is only as good as the way it’s installed. Poor camera placement, undersized storage, weak cabling and no remote access are the reasons so many CCTV systems fail to deliver usable footage when it actually matters.
Security Response Sydney handles CCTV installation in Sydney end to end, and installs systems that work — properly positioned cameras, reliable recording, clean cabling and secure remote viewing from your phone. We handle the full job: site assessment, system design, installation, configuration and handover, so you’re not left piecing the system together yourself.
Because we hold both a NSW Security Master Licence and a NSW electrical contractor licence, one team can legally design the security system and run the cabling and power behind it. Most Sydney providers can only do one side — a security-only installer who sub-contracts the electrical work, or a general electrician without the security licence. With SRS, the whole install sits under one accountable provider. You can also explore all electronic security services we offer.

Get a QuoteCommercial & Business CCTV Systems
Deter theft, protect staff and resolve disputes with footage that stands up.
For Sydney businesses, CCTV does more than record incidents — it deters theft, protects staff, resolves disputes and supports insurance and workplace investigations. Every commercial system is planned around your risk points — entries and exits, points of sale, stockrooms, cash handling areas, loading zones and blind spots — with camera resolution matched to what you need to identify: a face, a number plate, or general activity.
We can also integrate cameras with your alarm and door access so a single event is recorded, flagged and reviewable in one place. If you employ staff, see our guide to workplace surveillance laws in NSW.
Strata, Construction & Residential
Strata & apartment buildings
Strata CCTV has to satisfy the owners corporation, protect residents and stand up to privacy expectations across shared spaces. We cover entries, foyers, car parks, lifts, stairwells, bin rooms and perimeters, work around occupied buildings, and provide clear documentation for committee approval. Because we’re also licensed electricians, we handle the cabling, power and switchboard work a larger building needs — without bringing in a separate trade.
Construction sites
Building sites are high-risk targets — tools, materials, plant, copper and fuel all go missing, usually overnight or over long weekends. We deploy cameras quickly, move them as the site changes, and scale up as the build progresses. CCTV also pairs with construction site security guards and patrols so you can match protection to the value on site.
Residential homes
Most homes are well covered by a 4-camera or 8-camera system across the front door, driveway, garage and yards. We recommend the right number for your property rather than overselling hardware you don’t need, and set up remote viewing so live and recorded footage is on your phone. If you’re recording near a neighbour’s property or the street, there are privacy considerations worth knowing first — the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 (NSW) is the governing law.
Cameras, Systems & Brands We Install
IP or analogue, sized and specced for your site — not a throwaway kit.
IP vs analogue (HD)
IP cameras connect over network cabling and record to an NVR. Higher resolution, smarter features and easier expansion — the right choice for most new commercial, strata and quality residential systems.
Analogue / HD cameras record to a DVR over coaxial cabling — cost-effective for simpler jobs or when extending an existing system.
We install trusted, widely-supported brands including Hikvision and Dahua, matched to whether it’s a home or a demanding commercial site. How much storage you need and how long footage is kept depends on camera count, resolution and frame rate — we size the recorder accordingly.
What a typical system includes
- Cameras suited to each location (indoor, outdoor, low-light, wide-area or number-plate)
- An NVR or DVR with storage sized to your required retention period
- Secure remote viewing via mobile app on phone and tablet
- Clean, concealed cabling and proper power
- Configuration, testing and a walkthrough at handover

Brands We Install and Service
We are not a single-brand installer. These are the camera and recorder platforms we actually specify, install and service across Sydney — including HiLook on budget-conscious residential jobs. Which one suits your site is decided at the assessment, not before it.

Licensed Security Technicians & Electricians
Most Sydney providers can only do one side of the job. We hold both licences.
- Dual-licensed under one roof — NSW Security Master Licence 000108002 and NSW electrical contractor licence 382518C.
- Licensed and insured — qualified security technicians and licensed electricians, not unlicensed sub-contractors.
- One provider for security + electrical — cameras, alarms, access control and the electrical work behind them, without juggling separate trades.
- Available 24/7, Sydney-wide — Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, the Hills District and Western Sydney.
- Experienced across every setting — homes, businesses, strata buildings, industrial and construction sites.

How it works
Our Process & What It Costs
Five steps from first walk-through to handover — and an honest account of what actually moves the price on a Sydney CCTV job.
Site assessment
We walk the property with you, talk through what you actually want to cover and mark the risk points and blind spots. Larger sites get an on-site visit; smaller jobs can often be scoped remotely.
System design & written quote
Camera type and positions, recorder and storage, all set out in a written quote before anything is ordered. No pressure to over-buy hardware you do not need.
Installation
Licensed security technicians and licensed electricians install the cameras, run the cabling and set up the power — tidily, and to standard.
Configuration & testing
Recording, remote viewing and notifications configured, then every camera aimed and tested so you know the footage is actually usable.
Handover
We walk you through the system, show you how to view and retrieve footage, and leave you with something your team can operate without calling us.
We do not publish a flat per-camera price, because the camera count is rarely what moves the number. These are the things that actually do, ordered by how much they shift a quote in our experience — not a survey, and not a formula.
The biggest single lever. Eight cameras on one recorder costs far less per camera than four spread across two buildings.
A cable run through an occupied strata basement or a two-storey brick facade is a different job to a new build with open ceilings.
IP over network cabling versus analogue over coax, and how much detail you need — a face at the counter, a plate at the gate, or general activity.
How many days you need to keep, at what resolution and frame rate, sizes the recorder and the drives.
Tying cameras to an alarm or door events so one incident is recorded, flagged and reviewable in one place.
Which is why we quote each site rather than publishing a price list. For a full breakdown, see our Sydney CCTV cost guide.
Questions we get asked
CCTV Installation Questions
What Sydney owners and managers ask before they commit to a CCTV installation — what it costs, how many cameras they actually need, and what the law expects once the system is recording.
Not sure what your site needs?
We walk the site, mark up the coverage and tell you which positions actually earn a camera. You get a written quote, not an hourly rate.
Book a free site assessment →How much does CCTV installation cost in Sydney?
It depends on the number of cameras, whether you choose IP or analogue, camera quality, how much footage you need to store and how difficult the cabling is. A small home system sits at one end and a multi-camera commercial or strata install at the other. We quote each site rather than quoting a flat rate — request a free quote, or read our Sydney CCTV cost guide.
How many cameras do I need for my home or business?
Most homes are well covered by a 4-camera or 8-camera system across the front door, driveway and key yard areas. Businesses vary widely — coverage is driven by entries and exits, points of sale, stockrooms, blind spots and perimeters. We recommend the right number for your site during the assessment.
What’s the difference between IP and analogue CCTV cameras?
IP cameras run over network cabling, record to an NVR, and offer higher resolution, smarter features and easier expansion — best for most new systems. Analogue (HD) cameras record to a DVR over coaxial cabling and can be cost-effective for simpler jobs or when extending an existing setup.
Can I view my CCTV cameras remotely on my phone?
Yes. We set up secure remote viewing so you can see live and recorded footage from your phone or tablet, wherever you are, and receive notifications where the system supports them. We configure and test this before handover.
Do I need a licensed installer to put in CCTV in NSW?
Installing security cameras professionally should be done by appropriately licensed people — and the cabling and power behind them by a licensed electrician. SRS holds both a NSW Security Master Licence (000108002) and a NSW electrical contractor licence (382518C), so your whole install is covered by one licensed, insured provider. You can check either licence yourself on the NSW public licence register.
Can you install CCTV in a strata or apartment building?
Yes. We install and upgrade CCTV across common property — entries, car parks, lifts, foyers, bin rooms and perimeters — and work with strata managers and committees, including documentation for approval. Because we’re also licensed electricians, we handle the cabling, power and switchboard work larger buildings need.
Is my business allowed to record staff and customers on CCTV?
There are rules in NSW about surveillance in the workplace and recording of individuals, including notice requirements. We install with those obligations in mind and can point you to what applies. For the legal detail, see our guide to workplace surveillance camera laws in NSW, or read the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005 (NSW) directly.
How long is CCTV footage kept?
That’s set by your recorder’s storage and how many cameras, at what resolution and frame rate, are recording. We size the NVR/DVR to your required retention period during design. See our guide to how long CCTV footage is kept.
